LabeLive Acquires New Ayrton GHIBLI Fixtures for Rental Inventory

LabeLive, the creative lighting, video and audio company based in Franklin, Tennessee, has taken delivery of GHIBLI fixtures, Ayrton’s first LED spot luminaire with a factory-equipped framing system. ACT Lighting, Inc. is the exclusive distributor of Ayrton lighting in North America.

LabeLive offers a variety of rental lighting, video, audio and staging equipment for tours, events and corporate functions. The company already has Ayrton Magicblade-R fixtures in its inventory.

GHIBLI delivers a light output of 23,000 lumens in a highly compact format. Its proprietary optical system produces an extremely uniform fat beam with no hot spot. GHIBLI’s selection of gobos and colors was made in collaboration with lighting designers to meet the needs of the entertainment industry.

“We were looking for a larger spot fixture, and we were looking for LEDs,” says Josh Auman, COO of LabeLive. “We serve clients in arenas, theaters, clubs and churches. LED fixtures can be put in all sorts of rooms, even those with minimal power, and clients will benefit from the lights’ specs and performance.”

ACT Lighting introduced Auman to GHIBLI and staged a demonstration of the new light alongside a popular lamp-based competitor. “GHIBLI was lighter, faster, super-bright and had a really flat field that was very clean,” says Auman. “I always loved Ayrton’s color mixing engine on LEDs: It has very brilliant colors that stand out.”

GHIBLI meets LabeLive’s need for front spot lighting with full framing shutters “to isolate people on stage in tours, corporate shows and church productions,” Auman notes. “Typically, you only get full framing shutters on large, lamp-based fixtures.”

After taking delivery, LabeLive’s GHIBLIs quickly went out on Hillsong Worship’s “There Is More” tour. “We worked with Hillsong six months ago when the worship band and pastor required only AV equipment, no lighting. Then Hillsong returned and asked us to consider providing lighting too,” says Auman. “They requested another fixture with framing shuttters, but we told them about GHIBLI and specked it for their tour.”

In addition to its many features GHIBLI has a very attractive price point, he notes. “It’s very cost-effective compared to lamp-based counterparts on the market,” says Auman. “When a fixture performs as well as the competition and is also cheaper for the client to use that’s a win-win situation.”

Auman reports that LabeLive has already quoted GHIBLIs for an upcoming corporate job and a summer tour, and he expects the new fixtures “will be busy for the rest of the year.”
