Latest whitepaper from Nevion highlights why infrastructure is the backbone of sustainability for broadcasters

Nevion, a Sony Group Company, has today published a new whitepaper covering the role of infrastructure in enabling sustainable operations for broadcasters in live production.

With sustainability becoming a strategic objective in the broadcast and media sector, Nevion explains in this whitepaper how IP-based media transport is the foundation for sustainable workflows.

It also explores how remote production can reduce travel-related emissions by between 80-90%, alongside other sustainable initiatives that broadcasters can incorporate. For example, video compression can contribute directly to efficiency, and software-defined functionalities can transform how media infrastructure is deployed and maintained, reducing waste.

The whitepaper explains the sustainable benefits of power-saving functionalities, including how Nevion’s Virtuoso and eMerge technology have the capacity to go into partial shutdown or hibernation mode, thereby saving up to 80% power, for example.

Olivier Suard, VP of Marketing, Nevion, says, “Sustainability isn’t just about doing the right thing for the planet. It also makes business sense to reduce carbon emissions and energy costs. The key now is for organizations to work with partners that are equally committed to sustainability and reducing their own environmental impact, with actions that match their promises.”

The whitepaper provides a comprehensive overview of the importance of broadcasters and production companies making sustainable choices to help create a more responsible and efficient media ecosystem.
