LUMINEX Network Intelligence, manufacturer of network backbone solutions, will show its GigaCore Ethernet switches with AES67/Dante interoperability support in Booth #632 at InfoComm 2015, June 13-19, in the Orange County Convention Center, Orlando.
The AES standard provides a set of protocols for synchronized audio connectivity between compliant AoIP. Most recently, Audinate, developers of Dante, announced the addition of AES67, a baseline connectivity between Dante and AES67 bridging enabled network devices.
“LUMINEX has seen quite an adoption by Dante users of our GigaCore switches so we have now implemented native support of AES67 on the GigaCore range,” says Hugo Larin, director for LUMINEX in America. “The addition of support for these ecosystems provides system engineers and integrators a pre-configured and validated backbone solution of network switch.”
Native support is achieved with the release of GigaCore 2.0.3 firmware, which also features profile management and many other enhancements. The GigaCore family includes GigaCore 12, GigaCore 14R, GigaCore 16Xt, and GigaCore 16RFO.
AES67/Dante interoperability support facilitates the challenges of AoIP evolving, including the requirements from standards utilizing advanced clock synchronization methods such as IEEE 1588-2008 (Precision Time Protocol – PTP version 2) that AES67 describes
“When deploying an audio network where data is time-sensitive, special care needs to go into choosing switches because not all of them can cut it,” says Larin. “The same applies to using existing network infrastructure: Many just can’t support the latest advances or can’t guarantee the quality of services you will have on the facility-converged network.
“With its GigaCore Ethernet switches LUMINEX continues its commitment to offer a backbone solution that simplifies the integration of the most advanced networked methods used in installed AV and live sound,” adds Larin. “That commitment goes beyond single protocol to all protocol and standards used by audio, lighting and video professionals today.”
LUMINEX will also display the GigaCore RPSU, redundant power supply for GigaCore 14R and 16Xt switches. This IU rack mounted unit provides backup for the main input and power over Ethernet supply, and can monitor two devices at a time. When converging all AV data on the same network infrastructure, it becomes crucial to provide power redundancy to the network backboned. This is where the GigaCore RPSU becomes critical.
Also at InfoComm 2015 LUMINEX will release Ethernet-DMX 4.2.0 firmware, which now supports the BlackTrax tracking system from The CAST Group, new data merging modes and much more. The Ethernet-DMX family includes rack, truss and din rail encloses (Ethernet-DMX2, Ethernet-DMX4 and Ethernet-DMX8) and the DMX512-A 2.10 Hub.
