Macnica All-In on IPMX Education at Spring AV Shows

Media transport innovator will showcase varied IPMX demonstrations and workflows at both shows that demonstrate the emerging standard’s flexibility and customization, and contribute to a multi-vendor interoperability demo at InfoComm

SOLANA BEACH, CALIFORNIA, May 3, 2022 — Macnica, a leader in live video over IP transport technologies, has its eye on IPMX and open standards education at the upcoming Spring AV shows. In addition to showcasing its IPMX Product Development Kit to ignite interoperable AV over IP product development, Macnica will power three of its own IPMX demonstrations at both shows that demonstrate the flexibility of IPMX for AV over IP systems. The company will also contribute to a multi-vendor interoperability demo at InfoComm that promises to be the most expansive public IPMX-related demonstration to date.

At ISE 2022, Macnica will emphasize its IPMX Development Kit, which includes many of the key technologies and applications required to build and manage AV over IP systems, including sub-frame latency, USB extension, and outstanding UHD quality. The kit includes Macnica’s full-stack MPA1000 modules and ME10 SoCs, both of which transport HDMI 2.0 4K60 4:4:4 video, audio, and control data over 1GbE networks, and support JPEG-XS compression, Lua scripting, and an integrated web interface with customizable APIs. Along with helping product developers evaluate how standards-based video works with other products, Macnica’s innovation helps product developers uniquely customize their IPMX products.

That spirit of interoperability for product developers will carry over into Macnica’s in-booth three demos at ISE and InfoComm:

  • A fundamental IPMX Gateway Reference Design demonstration that shows the MPA1000 powering low-latency video, audio, and USB control over KVM to Macnica’s free white-box IPMX gateway reference design.
  • A simple customization with Lua Scripting demonstration that exposes the rich set of APIs within Macnica’s MPA1000 module and ME10 SoC, which provides OEMs with a rapid and flexible product development path.
  • A pure IPMX 4K software implementation that shows UHD 4K60 video with JPEG-XS compression streaming from a laptop to the MPA1000, and how IPMX technologies are seamlessly virtualized within an IT network.

InfoComm adds another layer to Macnica’s open standards message. Macnica will be one of 12 companies joining AIMS (Alliance for IP Media Solutions) at booth W1067 for a live SMPTE ST 2110 and IPMX interoperability demonstration. The demonstration will include networking equipment, hardware and software nodes running ST 2110 and IPMX, gateways between IPMX and other protocols (such as HDBaseT), developer kits, and more.

Macnica has worked closely with the AIMS Alliance and other standards organizations to drive IPMX product development since AIMS introduced the standard at ISE 2020. With several IPMX technologies close to ratification, Macnica’s technology innovations and demonstrations for the Spring AV shows will show the versatility of IPMX for a variety of AV verticals and installations, along with quick time to market for IPMX product development and multi-vendor interoperability.

“We have prepared our IPMX Development Kit to specifically help hardware vendors quickly test, evaluate and develop IPMX-ready AV over IP products,” said Andrew Starks, Director of Product Management, Macnica and AIMS Alliance board member. “At ISE and InfoComm, we aim to show not only how we can help OEMs accelerate IP product development, but also show how freely they can develop for a wide variety of AV applications including collaboration rooms, digital signage, live production and medical analysis.”

Starks is most excited about Macnica’s participation in the AIMS Interoperability demonstration, which also includes Cisco, Intel, Matrox, NETGEAR and Ross Video among other industry leading AV innovators. “Seeing these well-known industry brands support IPMX in this way is a significant milestone for Pro AV,” he said. “We are proud that our MPA1000 rests directly in the middle of such an impressive AV ecosystem.”

Macnica will also demonstrate how the MPA1000 and ME10 SoC share the same product development and real-world operational benefits for different production volumes. The MPA1000 module is built for product prototypes and smaller production runs, while the ME10 SoC is optimized for larger production runs and use in products with compact dimensions.

ISE 2022 takes place May 10-13 at the Fira Barcelona, Gran Via in Spain, where Macnica exhibits at 5N200. InfoComm takes place June 8-10 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, where Macnica exhibits at W1246.
