systems integrated with CrestronA® controllers. Crestron programmers can use the Matrox Monarch HD Control API or the VS4Recorder API to interface Matrox products with Crestron 2-SeriesA® and 3-SeriesA® Room Media Controllers. Operators can then easily start and stop streaming and recording from within the familiar Crestron interfaces.

“Crestron integration is one of the top user-requested features for our streaming and recording products,” said Daniel Maloney, technical marketing manager, Matrox Video. “Our APIs let AV integrators eliminate the need for additional control surfaces in venues such as lecture halls, corporate office buildings, museums, hotels and convention centers.”

Matrox Monarch HD is a small, easy-to-use H.264 encoder designed for professional video producers who need to simultaneously stream a live event and record a mastering-quality version for post-event editing. From any HDMI input source such as a camera or switcher, Matrox Monarch HD generates an H.264-encoded stream compliant with RTSP or RTMP protocol. While encoding the video at bitrates suitable for live streaming, Matrox Monarch HD simultaneously records a high-quality MP4 or MOV file to an SD card, a USB drive, or a network-mapped drive.

VS4Recorder is a multi-camera recording app that comes bundled with Matrox VS4 quad HD capture cards. It gives live event producers complete synchronized control over capture of the four inputs connected to the VS4 to create high-quality MOV, MP4, or AVI files for use with popular editing apps, for immediate upload to the internet or for archiving.

Price and availability

Matrox Monarch HD, priced at $995 US (€799, A£699) not including local taxes and delivery, is now available through a worldwide network of authorized dealers. The Monarch HD Control API is available to registered Monarch HD users as a free download from the Matrox website. Sample code to demonstrate Crestron programming will be available late June.

The Matrox VS4 card is priced at $1,495 US (€1295, A£995). Full turnkey HD recording systems are available from some certified systems builders. Crestron control is part of Matrox VS4Recorder 3.0 which will be available to registered VS4 users as a free download from the Matrox website in July.
