Promotes Versatility, Expertise and Reliability in Handling High-Stakes Global Sports Events
Media Links, a pioneer in IP-based media transport solutions, will highlight its entire IP ecosystem at NAB NY Show, Booth 729, after successfully supporting some of the world’s most prestigious sporting events this past summer. With the Olympics, UEFA Europe, and kickoff of the American college football season among others under its belt, Media Links continues to push the boundaries of live broadcasting with its portfolio of media transport solutions.
Olympic Excellence
Media Links played a pivotal role in transporting live broadcast content for the recent Paris Olympic Games, utilizing dozens of equipment shelves deployed in and around Paris as well as in the USA for broadcaster, NBC. This included its adaptable, high density Xscend™ platform, MDX switches, MDP 3020 MAX IP Gateways, and ProMD-EMS network management software, which coordinated and assured all transport service activity. Operating in a remote production environment, hundreds of impeccable quality, low-latency JPEG-XS compressed video feeds were aggregated in the IBC (International Broadcasting Center) from the various Olympic athletic event sites and sent across the Atlantic to NBC’s Sports’ Campus in Stamford, Connecticut where a combined average audience of 30.6 million viewers per day watched the Games.
European Soccer’s Largest Stage
Media Links was also instrumental in the successful delivery of live content for UEFA Europe 2024, working alongside Timeline TV in the UK to manage the seamless transport of IP media and data services. Utilizing the MDP 3020 MAX™ Series of compact, half-rack IP Media Gateways, a main consideration for Timeline was the need for quick, cost-effective deployment along with robust, glitch free transmission of all content (data, video, and audio) over lossy error-prone networks, as passionate fans everywhere tuned into the tournament.
A Winning Streak in American College Football
On the USA home front, Media Links continues its long standing association as a technology solution provider to major American college football conferences, most notably the SEC and Big10. With its IP media portfolio integrated within dozens of stadiums and arenas across these college campuses, weekly games are reliably and robustly transported through Media Links equipment, viewed by tremendously large audiences across the nation and beyond.
At NAB Show New York, booth 729, Media Links will spotlight these high-profile successes while also showcasing its next generation SMPTE ST 2110 enabled Xscend IP media platform. This latest Media Links IP offering provides for the transport of pristine quality video, audio, and data signals over any managed and/or unmanaged IP network, anywhere, accommodating current and future evolving industry standards and protocols.
The Media Links IP ecosystem is composed of media gateways, modular transport platforms, aggregation/core switches, and management control software, supporting formats up to 4K UHD resolutions and network bandwidths to 400G. Solutions are specifically designed to interoperate with industry standards like ST 2110, provide a bridge from legacy interfaces to IP, and accommodate workflows for current and evolving applications like remote, distributed, and cloud production.
