Los Angeles, CA, – MelroseTEC, the professional services division of MelroseMAC, has signed a contract with Toyota Motor Sales USA to overhaul the Toyota Video Production Center located in Torrance, California. MelroseTEC will be upgrading the Production Center’s control room from SD to HD as well as providing new production and post-production equipment. The deal came to a conclusion after a three-month consulting period where MelroseTEC professionals worked with the Toyota production staff in mapping out the equipment and process changes needed in order to help Toyota reach their content acquisition and distribution goals.
The new solution, which is in the process of being deployed, allows Toyota to perform such tasks as capturing live HD feeds from their sound stages, building a content repository of content for better management of media and distributing web-based content to Toyota locations around the world. The Toyota Video Production Center produces a majority of the company’s internal video communications as well as media for other purposes such as marketing, social media and training.
MelroseTEC will be providing the complete design, cabling and racking services for the redesigned control room as well as integrating a new Sony HD production switcher and a digital Utah Scientific router into the Video Production Center. A newly designed machine room will house Avid Interplay, ISIS 5000 and an SGL archiving solution communicating with a SpectraLogic tape library. Toyota’s editors will use the latest release of Avid Media Composers for content creation utilizing Nitris DX hardware. MelroseMAC is an Avid Elite Reseller and employs a host of Avid product experts, which was of critical importance to Toyota since the workflow is based (in part) on Avid products.
JL Armstrong, National Manager External Affairs, Toyota Motor Sales and manager of the Toyota Video Production Center said, “We were extremely impressed with the knowledge base and level of commitment that MelroseMAC brought to the table during our discussions about our facility upgrade and integration project. We had specific goals we wanted to reach with our production facility–dictated by the needs of our clients. Their team understood these goals, and worked closely with us to develop the right solution to accomplish them. We are really excited to start this project and anticipating a great working relationship with our new partner.”
MelroseMAC will train Toyota employees on their new software and hardware upon completion of the installation, enabling the company to turn projects around faster and more efficiently at much higher quality than their previous solution.
Martin Vann, CEO of MelroseMAC stated, “This is the kind of project we love doing. We are able to bring all of our resources together in helping Toyota take a huge step forward in both equipment and workflow, while at the same time, providing a foundation for continued growth of their media environment”.
Brian Boring, Vice President of MelroseTEC added, “The entire Toyota team has been great to work with, and we are very pleased with the partnership we have formed. MelroseMAC is extremely excited to work with Toyota and looking forward to building a long term relationship with the Video Production Center team.”
