Museum of Contemporary Art, Cleveland Partners with Videotel Digital Product for Richard Myers and Mark Mothersbaugh Exhibits

Taking on the art world by storm at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Cleveland, Videotel Digital’s VP70 LTE+ Digital Media Player helps rivet audiences. Recently used at the Richard Myers: Aberrations and Mark Mothersbaugh: Myopia art installations, the digital media players received tremendous praise by the renowned museum’s discriminating staff.

Ray A. Juaire, Senior Exhibitions Manager, at The Museum of Contemporary Art, Cleveland said of the effectiveness of the VP70 LTE+ Digital Media Player, “For the more than two decades The Museum of Contemporary Art, Cleveland has worked with artists to accurately depict their digital works in rotating exhibitions that run in our galleries for about 4 months at time, 6 days a week. That’s a lot of hours which typically causes a few glitches and headaches during the course of an exhibition. We used the VP70 for two very different critical exhibitions, both are tech-heavy shows. It ran flawlessly. It was easy to format and load files, accepted a wide variety of file formats, and had one of the more critical features for our application: an integrated remote control! Sounds silly but in our line of work, the ability to control a media player for a ceiling installation, or pause an image while documenting an exhibition, is very important. Not all media players offer this.”

Juaire speaks to the overall construction of the unit, “It’s rock solid and the small form factor gives us enormous flexibility to mount them just about anywhere we need to. In our line of work, it’s all about the aesthetics and when you have a bunch of cabling behind a video monitor, this makes doing a more flush mount possible. And the low voltage cable is the equivalent to plugging in a phone charger. Videotel players were a perfect fit in our line of Contemporary Art Museum installations which tend to be very demanding, run on tight budgets, and expect the highest quality product on a quick turn around.”

The VP70 LTE+is a new product from Videotel Digital with the ability to play files randomly as well as in a specific order. The commercial-grade digital media player is ideal for auto looping video, audio, images, and photos. Using content read directly from a USB or SD card, the VP70 LTE+ will seamlessly loop a mix of file types while incorporating audio files as background sound. Various slideshow transitions allow for multiple effects that give powerful, engaging imagery for audiences on a level not seen before.
