New d3 Technologies’ Media Servers Provide Massive Computing Power for WorldStage

WorldStage continues to expand its equipment inventory with the purchase of several new d3 Technologies media servers. The company now has d3 4×4 PRO servers and d3 4×2 PRO servers to supplement their existing d3 4U v2.5 units. The new acquisitions mark another milestone on the WorldStage 4K roadmap, which also includes the recent addition of a Barco E2 presentation system with extensive 4K capabilities.

“We were looking for a media server device capable of handling the 4K workflow requirements we’re starting to see,” says WorldStage’s Lars Pedersen. “d3 offers a variety of video output cards to handle a multitude of signal formats and has the flexibility to meet future requirements as the industry begins to standardize 4K transmission.”

Pedersen also gives kudos to d3′s “plethora of hardware and software features, including Dynamic Edge Blending” and its “enhanced functionality when connecting to external devices, such as sensors, encoders, camera tracking systems and others.” The system is also “extremely powerful” with the ability to handle up to 32 HD layers. The company also utilizes d3′s industry-standard pre-visualization capability that provides real-time renders of pixel-accurate 3D environments.

More than just media servers, d3 is billed as the world’s first integrated video production suite. Based around a realtime 3D stage simulator, it’s a single solution to design, present, communicate, sequence and playback shows. The server works with props, venues, LED screens, projection, lighting and moving set pieces while using a single intuitive software solution on a laptop or dedicated d3 hardware.

WorldStage Inc., the company created by the merger of Scharff Weisberg Inc and Video Applications Inc, continues a thirty-year legacy of providing clients the widest variety of entertainment technology coupled with conscientious and imaginative engineering services. WorldStage provides audio, video and lighting equipment and services to the event, theatrical, broadcast and brand experience markets nationally and internationally.
