2-way wireless patio speakers. Priced under $250 and available in black or white, the new model is part of the company’s expanding line of wireless speakers that includes rock, planter, and decorative garden speakers. Leveraging their experience in 2.4 GHz wireless technologies with their extremely successful line of hard-wired patio speakers, the company claims the OSD-WPA-650s offer full range audio quality and a very reliable signal transmission.
“We’ve been producing wireless outdoor speakers for a long time and have learned what works and what doesn’t,” states Tim Leahy, General Manager for OSD Audio. “We’re also a leader in wired outdoor speakers so the WPA650s combine the best technologies of our most successful brands.” Leahy references OSD’s widely popular WR800 wireless rock speakers as well as their AP Series of wired patio speakers. Like the wired models, the WPA650s install easily under patio eaves and mounting hardware is included. An 8-channel transmitter then sends the audio signal to the wireless receiver built into the main patio speaker. Users simply connect their iPods/Android mobile device, AV receiver, or laptop via the included audio cables. The 2.4 GHz-2.48 GHz frequency is less likely to experience interference from other wireless devices like cordless phones, and range is steady up to 300 feet unobstructed.
Inside each all-weather enclosure is a 6.5” polypropylene woofer, 1” aluminum soft dome aluminum tweeter and a complex crossover system that produces remarkably full sound. “When we tested early prototypes, we knew we had another hit because the sound quality just blew us away, especially the low end,” concludes Leahy.
