PETALUMA, Calif. — June 3, 2008 —
Panamax, a world-leading provider of AC power management solutions, today announced that UV Pure Technologies Inc. has begun shipping a Panamax M4-EX power management unit with each of its Hallett and Upstream water purification systems for protection against power spikes and brownouts.
UV Pure systems are designed to be effective in the broadest range of water conditions and operate within normal power grid specifications worldwide. However, power spikes and brownouts are a common occurrence in all countries. As a result, line voltages may fluctuate outside the systems’ operating specifications, interrupting water treatment.
In an effort to safeguard its water purification systems from power grid fluctuations, UV Pure chose to ship Panamax’s M4-EX with every Hallett and Upstream system. The M4-EX has been successfully tested with UV Pure’s 120-V North American products. The tests demonstrated that the systems survived brownouts as low as 90 V and transient voltage spikes of up to 6,000 V and 3,000 A.
The M4-EX provides protection for up to four devices, so that in addition to a UV Pure system, up to three other devices can be protected. It accepts add-on signal line modules to accommodate system expansion, and features Panamax’s exclusive Protect or Disconnectâ„¢ circuitry, which completely removes the AC power from connected equipment in the event of a catastrophic surge.
