Panasonic adds two displays to 4K SQ1 series

Panasonic has expanded its newly launched range of 4K professional displays with the addition of two 86 and 98in large format panels.

Due for release in January 2019, the SQ1 range (TH-98SQ1 and TH-86SQ1) supports HDR and provides 4K high quality images at 500 cd/sqm, ensuring crisp images and digital signage installations. Capable of both portrait and landscape display including a tilt installation of up to 20°, the range features several connectivity and set up options for simple installation.

Flexibility comes in the shape of a new multi-screen output feature. This allows a single panel to be split in to a four quadrants, or two picture by picture variants or one of four picture in picture effects. In addition, it’s possible to build a large-screen videowall of up to 100 screens in 10 x 10 configuration.

Well suited to environments such as retail, education, museums and corporate, the screens are designed for 24/7 hours of usage and have a new 12-segment colour management feature and six picture modes enhancing the flexibility of image adjustment. This enables the adjustment of colour tone, density and brightness parameters individually for red, green, and blue, as well as the complementary colours of cyan, magenta and yellow.

With digital signage applications in mind, the SQ1 has a 4K USB media player which eliminates the need for external playback devices and allows for the remote updating of content. A failover and fallback function immediately switches the system to alternative signals if the main video signal is interrupted.

Another key feature of the SQ1 series is a new ultra-slim Intel SDM port (Intel Smart Display Module), which enables signage to be operated via a third-party built in PC ensuring future expandability.

Hartmut Kulessa, marketing manager at Panasonic, said: “The SQ1 series provides a benchmark for 4K displays, providing the high quality images, ease of setup and expandability required for creating impactful signage. The displays provide a flexible and stylish canvas which meets the creative needs of a business whilst being easy to install, and cost effective to run 24/7.”

In addition, a multi touch infrared version of the SQ1 range (TH-98SQ1-IR and TH-86SQ1-IR) will be available from January 2019 onwards.
