Stars open rock & roll’s new home on Sunset Boulevard
celebrated the grand opening of the
showroom on Sunset Boulevard at the heart of Guitar Row on Sept. 1-5. The weeklong event featured appearances from company founder Hartley Peavey as well as world-renowned musicians, celebrities and live performances.
Musicians and music fans packed into the new showroom—lined with the amplifiers, guitars and sound reinforcement gear that have made Peavey an icon in music and audio—for a meet-and-greet with Hartley Peavey, one of the industry’s longest-serving founders and CEOs. The opening also featured live performances from Alex Skolnick and Monte Montgomery, an appearance by Black Veil Brides, and a signing with comics legend Stan Lee, who autographed Peavey Marvel guitars.
Located at 7422 Sunset Boulevard, Peavey Hollywood gives musicians and music fans a new home in the heart of rock & roll, with a green-room vibe, high-end gear from the Peavey family of brands to play, and regular performances from world-class artists. Peavey brings its 47-year legacy of making the amps for music’s biggest stars and stages to Hollywood with a new showroom, artist relations headquarters and multimedia dealer education center.
“Giving the Peavey experience a home in Hollywood after nearly five decades is very meaningful for us,” said Hartley Peavey, who earned his star on the Hollywood Rock Walk of Fame in 1990. “We’re excited to have a place where our longtime L.A. friends, as well as new artists and dealers, can hear and play an extensive range of gear in a comfortable space that caters to them. Peavey Hollywood is the place where it all comes together—the gear, the musicians, the dealers and the inspiration that drive Peavey Electronics are alive right here.”
Courtland Gray, Chief Operating Officer of Peavey Electronics Corp., added, “We plan to further enhance our dealer experience by using this facility as a teaching and training venue, with live-streaming webcasts that feature hands-on selling techniques and artist clinics with interactive chat, as well as performances, product reviews, and other industry topics.”
During the opening week, the Peavey Hollywood stage hosted performances from the Alex Skolnick Trio and Monte Montgomery through a professional Peavey sound system featuring two Versarrayâ„¢ 112 ribbon-driven line array enclosures and one Versarray 218 subwoofer per side, powered by Crest AudioA® Pro 200â„¢ Series power amps. The DigitoolA® Live, an 8×8 loudspeaker management system from Peavey Architectural AcousticsA®, processes the audio while a Crest Audio X18Râ„¢ mixer controls front of house and provides monitor mixes to four EUâ„¢ 112 wedges.
When not used for performances, the stage system is part of an intuitive loudspeaker demo featuring popular Peavey models, configured and controlled via Peavey MediaMatrixA®, the world’s most flexible and scalable digital audio network. Using the MediaMatrix NWareâ„¢ Mobile iOS app, users can select the speakers and track, as well as adjust volume and other playback parameters, from a custom interface on an iPadA®.
A section of the showroom is dedicated to the history and philosophy of Hartley Peavey, the industry’s longest-running founder, sole owner and CEO, who built his first amplifier as a teenager in 1957 and has earned countless accolades and more than 180 patents for his achievements in music product innovation and international business.
