PESA Xstream Multi-Path IP Streaming Appliance Among PESA Product Highlights at GV Expo

Huntsville, Alabama –

PESA, a leading U.S.-based custom design and manufacturing company for professional audio and video

signal distribution

, will showcase the PESA Xstream multi-path IP streaming appliance at Government Video Expo 2013 (Booth 719), which runs Dec. 4-5 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. The company will also showcase its new easyPORTâ„¢ modules for HDMI transport, Vidblox 2K DVI dual link extenders, and 4K

routing switcher

.

In addition, retired Col. John T. Wright, PESA senior vice president, sales and business

development, will present “Unified Capabilities Requirements – Video Distribution Systems in DoD Environments” as part of the Pro Media Conference at GV Expo on Dec. 4 at 3 p.m. “The UCR is in place so Department of Defense agencies can equip with confidence, knowing that products have been tested and approved by the Joint Interoperability Test Command,” he explained. “My session will provide a basic understanding of the process, as well as some helpful hints for properly preparing a technical scope of work.”

PESA Xstream simultaneously encodes up to five independent video sources and eight audio sources concurrently from live or recorded video for multi-path H.264

IP distribution

over six independent video streams – with no sync or latency issues. Housed in a compact, 1 RU form factor, it provides a cost effective, comprehensive package for digital media capture, processing, distribution, and storage. Upgrades for Q1 2014 include on-board storage as well as a USB 2.0 communications interface.

“With its synchronized, high-quality video and audio and a low cost per stream, PESA Xstream has caught the attention of government agencies and a number of other vertical markets,” Wright said. “PESA Xstream is already part of VIQ Infinit, a digital media capture and management platform from VIQ Solutions for court systems, and we are working with developers who are tailoring the user experience for other specific applications.”

PESA Xstream captures H.264 IP camera streams, NTSC/PAL or SDI video up to 1080p resolution, stored video content, and even computer-based content such as PowerPoint slides or medical patient vital signs, then prepares high-bandwidth MPEG-4/H.264 broadcast streams for enterprise distribution and archive. When multiple sources are captured simultaneously, the streams remain associated and synchronized during the event.

With five individually addressable video outputs as well as an integrated quad-view output, PESA Xstream allows operators to stream live content over IP while simultaneously transmitting live digital content to a quad-view display and/or full screen display. PESA Xstream can also synchronize discrete audio inputs to discrete video inputs, and offers adjustable audio delay. An intuitive Web browser management and control interface provides complete remote capabilities, which can eliminate the need for on-site personnel to stream content to a production facility.

Four new easyPORTâ„¢ compact switching throw-down boxes make it easy to integrate HDMI

sources into video transport. The EASY-2HX4B distributes or switches two HDMI inputs to four independent SDI video sources, simplifying cable and power management at the desktop when you need to convert two HDMI inputs to share across multiple SD/HD or 3G-SDI video transports. The EASY-4BX2H companion module offers flexibility at the studio workstation, where up to four SDI video input feeds can be converted and switched to two different HDMI video displays. Offered with coaxial 75 Ohm connections, the EASY-2HX4B and EASY-4BX2H can be extended up to 80m, while the EASY-2HX4F and EASY-4FX2H fiber versions with standard LC-type SFP pluggable modules support distances up to 600m over multi-mode or 10km over single-mode fiber.

PESA’s new series of Vidblox 2K DVI dual link extenders are ideal for the distribution of ultra high-resolution graphics used in production studios, command and control rooms, and geospatial imaging centers. The modules transport 2K video (up to 2560A—1600@60Hz) over coax and/or fiber to or from serial digital equipment, with analog stereo embedded in the video transport. On the local TX module, a looping DVI-D output allows quick monitoring status to check video content and image quality. Vidblox 2K modules can be combined with PESA’s full line of 3G-SDI routing switchers for 2K distribution and switching systems up to 288A—288, and each Vidblox 2K can be networked for remote control using PESA’s Cattrax network control software.

Designed to support the emerging 4K/UHDTV marketplace, the new Cheetah 4K 16A—16 routing switcher features hot swappable matrix and I/O cards, as well as internal power and control, which virtually eliminates the need for additional power and external cabling. Plus, redundant power and control modules can be added within the 4 RU frame. The router is controlled through traditional RS-232/422 or Ethernet connections, and its built-in SNMP MIB simplifies integration to third-party network system management software. The router can be configured and controlled via PESA’s intuitive Cattrax network GUI or optional Cattrax Web network server software using PESA’s powerful PERC2000 or PERC3000 system controller hardware.

Each Cheetah I/O card includes four SC-style fiber CWDM connections carrying up to 12 Gbps (4xSDI) for each input or output port. To complete the end-to-end 4K system, an outboard easyPORT module converts the signals from each CWDM port on the router back to conventional HD/3G-SDI video lines. With the built-in crosspoint switch circuit on each easyPORT module, users can also send four independent SD/HD/3G-SDI signals over a single wire interface, which saves valuable cabling space, and can extend coax I/O more than 80m using the built-in equalizing and reclocking circuits in each easyPORT module.
