MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – While the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTNDA) has been honoring outstanding electronic journalism with its Edward R. Murrow Awards since 1971, this year TVU Networks’ TVUPack® TM8200 mobile uplink backpack transmitter will stream the entire ceremony exclusively for live and on-demand viewing at http://www.rtdnaedwardrmurrowawards.org/
The event will be held on October 12, starting at 7:00pm in New York City’s renowned Gotham Hall. The Radio Television Digital News Association will honor national and regional radio, television, and online news organizations with Murrow Awards. Stories ranging from investigative reports of injured undocumented construction workers in Texas, profiles of families with transgender children in Brooklyn, to late-breaking news on violence in the Gaza strip have won awards this year.

In a first for the Edward R. Murrow Awards, student journalism will also be honored. The RTNDA will present awards in each of three categories — audio, video and digital journalism. Unlike the professional Murrow Awards, which are presented to a news organization, the Student Murrows are awarded to individuals.
“With TVU providing live transmission services, we’re 100 percent confident our live streaming coverage will be of the highest quality. Our online video broadcast is a very important part of the event. It enables people who may not be able to make the gala to see and be a part of this truly special night in journalism history,” said Mike Cavender, Executive Director, RTDNA.
“We’re proud to be aligned with the RTNDA and firmly support its mission to promote excellence in journalism,” said Eric Chang, Vice President of Marketing, TVU Networks. “The Edward R. Murrow Awards are a prime example of what the RTNDA is all about – honoring the nation’s top news organizations for their compelling and often extremely difficult work. Having our TVUPack live stream this extraordinary event for public, online viewing is our honor.”
