THOUSAND OAKS, California — Due to climate realities many of its locations must contend with, The Canadian Brewhouse hybrid sports bar / restaurant chain is forced to entertain two different kinds of patrons during the year: those seeking shelter from below-freezing temperatures and those wishing to lounge outside in warmer weather while watching their favorite team. Since every location has a patio, the company entertains fans year round with weatherproof SunBriteDS outdoor displays, which thrive even in environments as extreme as Northern Canada.
“SunBriteDS was the only manufacturer in this category that could offer an outdoor television that would stand up to our severe weather,” said Jim Martyn, Business Advancement Manager, The Canadian Brewhouse.
Designed for permanent outdoor installation, all SunBriteDS models are equipped with specialized heating and cooling systems, allowing them to function in temperatures as low as -40° C (-40° F) and as high as 50° C (122° F). While the latter is quite uncommon in Canada, according to Martyn, none of the SunBriteDS models have ever failed from the cold.
“I can confidently say that we have more TVs per square foot than any other sports bar in Alberta and every location has SunBriteDSs on the patio,” said Martyn, “Our new location opened in Saskatoon, SK, at the end of May. It’s our biggest patio yet and has six SunBriteDS units.”
As one of the first Canadian Brewhouses outside of Alberta, the Saskatoon location is especially important for establishing the brand. Martyn is relying on the 3,500 square-foot patio with capacity for 200 to attract many summer sports fans. He’s relying on the SunBriteDSs to keep them coming back throughout the season.
“We’ll be running games on the SunBriteDSs every day this summer, from open to close,” said Martyn. “And we’ve never had an issue with content delivery. They’ve always worked seamlessly with our Apple TVs and satellite feeds.”
As durable as the units are in the harshest of winter conditions, they perform just as well at the opposite end of the weather spectrum. Since the six SunBriteDS models are uncovered they must deal with direct sunlight. That’s not an issue, says Martyn, thanks to Extended Solar Tolerance, which prevents isotropic blackout of the screen. “From the full glare of daylight to the dark of night, our SunBriteDSs have consistently provided a clear, full-HD 1080p image,” Martyn said.
The Canadian Brewhouse plans to continue its eastward expansion into British Columbia, where the coastal salty air presents another danger to electronics. A SunBriteDS’s weatherproof exterior and watertight Cable Entry System, however, prevent moisture and salt corrosion from affecting both aesthetics and internal wiring.
