Triveni Digital“s New StreamScope™ EM-40 Enables Real-Time Enterprisewide Service Quality

StreamScope EM-40 Gives Broadcasters, Cable Operators, Service Providers, and IPTV Networks a Real-Time, Service-Based Tool for Maintaining Service Quality and Reliability

PRINCETON, N.J. — Feb. 27, 2008 —

Triveni Digital, a subsidiary of LG Electronics (LGE), today announced the release of the StreamScope™ Enterprise Monitor (EM-40), an enterprisewide service quality assurance solution that enables proactive, real-time, service-based response in maintaining the integrity of transport streams. Targeted to the needs of broadcasters, cable operators, service providers, and IPTV networks, the EM-40 oversees a fleet of StreamScope units that continuously detect, localize, analyze, and isolate faults using a predefined set of rules. By giving users full remote analysis capabilities for any monitored stream, the EM-40 significantly reduces customer downtime and complaint-response costs.

“The speed with which providers of video services can identify and solve problems within their transport streams has a direct impact on the quality of service they provide to customers,” said Ralph Bachofen, director, product management and marketing at Triveni Digital. “We developed the new StreamScope Enterprise Monitor to enable efficient service monitoring, analysis, and troubleshooting across a provider‘s network, which in turn allows the operator to take a proactive approach in maintaining maximum uptime and meeting the expectations of viewers.”

The EM-40 monitors StreamScope RM-40 and MT-40 units in real time and automatically generates alarms when a transport stream falls outside an operator-specified configuration. Both the RM-40 and MT-40 record and measure DTV transport streams in order to ensure their integrity, reliability, and compliance with standards (ATSC, ATSC A/78, SCTE), providing alarms that enable rapid response and troubleshooting. The RM-40 is an unattended remote monitoring system that offers continual, low-cost monitoring of DTV transport streams. The MT-40 monitor is a comprehensive, user-friendly instrument for analyzing and verifying DTV transport streams.

Trend analysis tools integrated into the EM-40 allow engineering staff to review and analyze past or recurring issues and thus help prevent future errors in the stream. The system provides a consolidated view of the service health of all StreamScope RM-40 and MT-40 systems across a network, giving broadcasters a meaningful display of actual system flow. By applying meaning to stream health information, the EM-40 enables cross-layer correlation and subsequent problem localization.

Triveni Digital‘s EM-40 in-depth and highly automated monitoring processes ensure network and stream integrity, allowing users to set a high standard for video quality and consistency. With improved viewer satisfaction, EM-40 users can expect to benefit from lower customer service costs, lower churn, and higher revenues.
