Vox Church Picks TELEFUNKEN for Live Worship Music

Nine Centers are Networked Throughout Connecticut

Vox Church, headquartered in New Haven, Connecticut, has had great success using TELEFUNKEN microphones in their eight campuses throughout Connecticut and Massachusetts. Lead pastor Justin Kendrick and his wife Chrisy started Vox Church with a small group of friends in 2011. Since that time, Vox Church has continued to expand to reach more cities and more people with their entertaining services.

Eugene “Geno” Mulcahy is lead audio engineer for Vox Church, along with being the FOH/Tour Manager for Tim Rushlow and the Frontmen of Country, featuring Larry Stewart,Tim Rushlow and Richie McDonald. Mulcahy commented, “I was introduced to the Telefunken M80 dynamic mic ten years ago and as soon as it was plugged in, I knew it was a game changer. From that day forward it has been the only mic I go to for vocals.”

The main campus of Vox Church is in New Haven, broadcasting from The College Street Music Hall to its other locations. “The goal and key to Vox Church worship and teaching across all campuses is consistency and HD quality,” Mulcahy explains. “The M80 gives me first and foremost a true sonic clarity that no other dynamic vocal mic has given me. We record and document every service with both video and audio. We did a live video recording this past October and have released our first single and music video ‘Father’.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzg3y_g-Rzo

The church’s VoxMusic division is a growing collective of musicians committed to the mission of the church and creating music at all its the locations. Vox Kids programming is available for children 6 months through grade 5 at all of the Sunday morning services.

“For powerful male and female leads,” Mulcahy continues, “the M80 gives me a flat sonic pallete to work with. It doesn’t matter who sings into an M80 — the results are immediate, positive and consistent. On the drum kit we also use an M82 in the kick, which is another staple of our Vox Church sound. Telefunken makes what we do week in and out an easy process and there isn’t a service or a gig that Telefunken isn’t a major part of. The other side to the equation is the passionate, supportive and caring team at Telefunken — hands down some of the finest folks in the audio business today. My success relies heavily on Telefunken products and with 15 services every Sunday across multiple campuses the proof is in the pudding.”

Mulcahy’s colleague Robert “RJ” Roy, Jr., central production lead for Vox Church, added, “Ever since I heard the M80 with flat EQ, I found how little work we had to do and I was sold. When you find a ‘top of the line’ microphone for a great price, it makes it very easy to standardize on that mic, which allows us to have the best sound possible at each of our locations. Vox Church relies heavily on Telefunken to allow both our professional staff and volunteers to accomplish their jobs with consistent excellence.”
