West Park Celebrates Anniversary With Martin Audio

Drummer Boy Sound Productions recently supplied a Martin Audio W8LM system for West Park, Florida’s 10th Anniversary celebration concert.

West Park, FL––Drummer Boy Sound Productions, a division of Design South Florida, recently supported the city’s 10th Anniversary celebration concert with a Martin Audio W8LM loudspeaker system.

Held in McTyre Park, the concert featured an eclectic lineup including headliners Xavier Lewis and Deep Fried Funk featuring Jody Hill, along with R&B artist Mr. Baritone, classic rock band VIVA, hip hop violin ensemble Sons of Mystro and Latin artists Electric Piquete.

The system included 7 Martin Audio W8LM and 1 W8LMD enclosures per side with 8 ground-stacked WS218X subs. In addition, Martin Audio LE1200 and LE1500 stage monitors were a key part of the monitoring system, while a MA 9.6K was used to power the subs. Consoles included a Yamaha CL5 for FOH and an Allen & Heath iLive T112 for monitors with additional amplification provided by QSC and Lab Gruppen.

Crew for the event consisted of Tony Morales (FOH ), Harold Cummings (Monitors and system tech) and David Hill (stage tech).

When asked why the Martin Audio W8LM was chosen, Drummer Boy’s Harold Cummings says, “We needed a powerful but compact speaker system for the Stageline SL250 stage. When weight is an issue and we need a lot of power, nothing beats the W8LM boxes.

“In terms of how Martin Audio performed,” Harold sums up, “our client Cesar Garcia from the City of West Park couldn’t believe how good the system sounded while Xavier Lewis said that his performance sounded like he was in a studio, which is hard to replicate on an outdoor festival stage. Doug Carter, keyboardist for Deep Fried Funk, wants the LE1200s because ‘he needs his keyboards do sound that good all of the time.’ And FOH engineer Tony Morales summed up all the reactions by adding, ‘I love this rig.’”
