Women in Consumer Technology Hosts 15th Annual CEDIA EXPO Networking Reception and Luncheon

Event to Include Keynote From Qadra Evans, Leadership Member of ‘The House That She Built’ and Zillow’s Director of Industry Relations for New Construction

LONGMONT, Colo. July 31, 2023 Women in Consumer Technology (WiCT), an organization that promotes the advancement of women in the consumer technology industry, is hosting its annual CEDIA EXPO networking reception and luncheon on Friday, Sept. 8, at 11:30 a.m. MT. Now in its 15th year, the event will open with a networking reception featuring a bloody mary and bellini bar, followed by the luncheon and keynote from Qadra Evans. Evans is a member of the executive leadership team of the educational movement “The House That She Built,” and Zillow’s director of industry relations for new construction.

“I’m amazed at the transformative impact women have made in our industry in the 15 years we’ve hosted this reception and networking event at CEDIA EXPO,” said Carol Campbell, Founder of WiCT. “The number of members has grown, and the conversations have evolved from those initial questions, ‘How can we be a part?’ to strong messages of, ‘We are a crucial part’ — powerful indicators of women in the technology industry! This year’s reception will carry on that theme and promises to be truly inspiring.”

During the WiCT luncheon keynote, Evans will share the inspiring story of “The House That She Built,” which has a mission to support workforce development initiatives in the construction industry by generating awareness of the skilled trades to the largest underrepresented community. Based on Mollie Elkman’s book, published by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), “The House That She Built” aims to educate young girls and get them excited about construction by raising awareness on the viability of construction jobs for women.

The CEDIA EXPO networking reception and luncheon will take place at the Colorado Convention Center — The Four Seasons Ballroom 1 — in Denver. Those who are interested may purchase tickets and can learn more about the event here.
