The Assembly events were born from the desire of a couple of young computer enthusiasts to organize a programmers’ convention in Finland, back in 1992. In the past 17 years the demoparty has grown to its current size and has become a highly-respected demo-scene competition – sort of a world championship – for computer programmers and media artists. The four-day computer festival attracts visitors from around the world from over 20 countries. Over 5,000 participants enjoy the special atmosphere of meeting friends, playing games, visiting seminars and watching the high-quality competitions of various computer artists and groups. The total prize pool for this year’s event is over 80.000 USD for both gaming and media-art related competitions. For more information on the event, visit
