Co-hosted by Platinum Sponsor Bosch Security Systems and Bosch Communication Systems, the NSCA’s Expo 2007 Intelligent Buildings Showcase will explore the implications and dynamics of how IP-based services effect cost, construction, and management of next generation commercial structures. Running from March 15-17, the showcase will be one of Expo’s centerpiece exhibits at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla

As technology advances by leaps and bounds, networked capabilities are rapidly joining traditional infrastructure services such as water, electricity, and telecommunications to effectively become a fourth utility of their own. With the promise of today’s “smart” buildings comes built-in fire protection capable of detecting the thinnest wisp of smoke, messaging security to alert all tenants of the situation, and even intelligent displays to direct people out of the building if necessary.

In an ideal connected world, buildings today can also be managed remotely, provide data storage on and off-site as a service to its tenants, and have the capacity to connect those same tenants with video, sound, and full e-business function so the tenants can focus on their core business operations.

At the Intelligent Buildings Showcase, all of these possibilities will be examined and more. While it’s still smart to build with brick and mortar for a solid foundation, it’s becoming increasingly clear that the best time to put in the infrastructure to support an ever-expanding array of network-based products is during construction. To that end, architects, designers, developers, system integrators, and even tenants owe it to themselves to come visit the showcase, where a number of dedicated education stations will explain the details of a particular service as well as offer working demonstrations where the results of integrating these products can be witnessed firsthand.

“I’m delighted to offer this opportunity at this year’s Expo,” NSCA VP of Expositions Patty Voss says. “Dedicated education stations within the showcase will delve into the worlds of unified messaging, very early smoke detection, the latest in data storage technology, building management, digital signal processing, digital signage content management, wireless networking, and integrated security systems. This will be one of our industry’s best one-stop sources of some very vital information.”

Outside of the education stations, the Intelligent Building Services Showcase will also shed light on other important issues and explain how:
-Employees can enjoy a collaborative environment that is safe and secure, either remotely, while mobile, or on-site.
-Developers can reduce the cost of building, the time to build, and have an ongoing competitive advantage as IP services continue to be introduced.
-Building owners can generate new revenue streams, greatly reduce churn, support new business models, and, taken together, attract and retain building clients.
-Investors can enjoy better value over time, with higher yields and an overall improved return on their investment as the ongoing costs of maintenance mean a lower expense and capital profile for future spending.
-Real Estate Executives can offer a flexible portfolio for a given space and optimize the use of the space based on core capabilities being present.
-Facility Managers can identify and track total cost of ownership based on operational efficiencies, service cost transparency and reduced cost for moves, adds and changes.
-Tenants can focus on the success of their business with much more reliable, timely and efficient services provided to them and their customers.
