d3 Technologies Collaborates on Memorable Tesla Car Mapping Demo at ISE 2015

ISE (Integrates Systems Europe) 2015 may have concluded but the buzz continues about the collaboration among d3 Technologies, Panasonic Europe, The Projection Studio and Tesla Motors at the convention.

Dubbed Tesla Car Mapping, the dynamic three-minute demo in the Panasonic booth was set up, sequenced and controlled using a d3 4x4pro media server.  It mapped a vinyl-clad Tesla Model S electric car with video imagery created by The Projection Studio: falling snow, shadows of clouds and air currents, the lights of a night cityscape, and the bold geometrics of a highway tunnel.

To map the car, the d3 4x4pro, which can output a 16K canvas in a variety of video signals, teamed with Panasonic’s new EVO version of its 20,000 lumen projectors.  Together they formed the ideal hardware and software solution for the innovative demo that captured the attention of everyone at ISE 2015 – and many more online and on social media: #teslamapping was added to the video screen imagery displayed behind the car at the automaker’s request.

“It’s been great to work with The Projection Studio and Panasonic for ISE,” says Sarah Cox, d3 Technologies’ sales manager EMEA.  “Not only did the Tesla Car Mapping draw a fantastic amount of attention from the ISE visitors, we think we’ve really achieved what we set out to do together: to show that you can achieve pretty much anything if you combine the right creativity, knowledge and technology.  Working collaboratively is a strong part of the d3 workflow, and the benefits definitely showed during ISE.”

Ross Ashton from The Projection Studio invited d3 to participate in the innovative demo.  Hartmut Kulessa is the marketing manager, projector products for Panasonic Europe. Freelance d3 specialist Richard Porter worked on the d3 project set-up and technical on-site operation of d3.
