PETALUMA, CALIFORNIA – Providing dealers with the best signal extension capabilities on the market today, Gefen, the A/V signal management unit of Core Brands, a Nortek company (NASDAQ: NTK), today announced that the 4K Ultra HD HDBaseT™ 2.0 Extender for HDMI (GTB-UHD-HBT2) is now shipping.

According to Fitzgerald, the GTB-UHD-HBT2 uses the new HDBaseT 2.0 Colligo™ platform to ensure an even more robust and resilient connection than the industry standard HDBaseT. It now carries RS-232, Bi-directional IR, and Power over HDBaseT.
“Gefen’s implementation of the latest HDBaseT 2.0 technology enables the extension of HDMI up to 330 feet (100m) at 4K, using one CAT-5e cable,” Fitzgerald emphasized. “RS-232 and 2-way IR signals are transferred between the Sender and the Receiver to control the A/V source and the display. While some of these features may be familiar to current users of HDBaseT products, this product is fully compliant with the new HDBaseT standard and provides a level of future-proofing for this evolving technology.”
The POH (Power over HDBaseT™) technology provides power to the Receiver unit using the same CAT-5 cable that extends the HDMI and control signals, and only the Sender needs an external power supply. Via the GTB-UHD-HBT2, 1080p Full HD and 1920 x 1200 (WUXGA) 8-bit video can be extended up to 495 feet (150 meters). Resolutions up to 4K DCI-Cinema (4096 x 2160 @ 30 Hz 4:4:4) and 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160 @ 60 Hz 4:2:0), along with the latest HDCP 2.2 encryption, are supported. 7.1 channels of LPCM and HBR (High Bit Rate) lossless digital audio including Dolby Atmos™, Dolby TrueHD™, DTS:X™, and DTS-HD Master Audio™ are passed through.
