NTP Technology Launches its Third Audinate Dante Product at IBC

Amsterdam, NL- 10 September 2012: NTP Technology, a world leader in digital audio routing and signal processing, has chosen IBC 2012 for the world premiere of the DAD AX32 pristine audio converter which features ultra flexible interface configuration and audio over IP using Audinate’s Award winning Danteâ„¢ technology.

“The AX32 is a major development of the extremely successful AX24 which has become the industry benchmark for no-compromise audio recording, mastering, post-production and future-proof archiving,” states NTP Technology Sales Director Mikael Vest. “It offers the same pristine pre-amplification and analog to digital conversion as the AX24 plus powerful additional features. Up to 32 channels can be housed in a compact 2 rack-unit chassis to accommodate larger multi-microphone arrays without needing to transport a second processor. All 32 microphone feeds can be connected back to the control room on a single Cat 5 cable via IP Ethernet.”

Vest adds, “In response to customer demand, we have added audio over IP Ethernet capabilities which allow master recordings to be networked easily and cost-efficiently from one studio to another or across a large building complex. The Ethernet over IP audio interface handles up to 512 channels and uses the highly robust, Dante technology, which is enabled in our Penta 725 IP audio routing system.”

Audinate is leading the way networks are connected by transporting high-quality media over standard IT networks. Its Dante products deliver a no-hassle, self-configuring, true plug-and-play digital audio network that uses standard Internet Protocols.

The AX32 incorporates AES/EBU and MADI inputs and outputs plus a Gigabit Ethernet IP interface for use with Audinate’s Dante Virtual Soundcard for PC, Mac and other Dante enabled devices. It is fully compatible with Avid’s ProTools|HDX multitrack capture/editing/mixing system. A versatile interface structure allows the analog-to-digital, digital-to-analog and digital-to-digital converters to be assigned to any digital interface, as well as patching between the interfaces on a channel-to-channel basis.

“We have retained the same flexible control features that made the AX24 so popular and added a larger control screen, which interacts with four adjacent pushbuttons to allow adjustment of key converter parameters from the front panel.” Vest explains, “Full remote control can be accomplished using NTP Technology’s DADman software or via Ethernet. The AX32’s preamp parameters can be represented on the channel strip of third-party audio production consoles and workstations.”

“The AX32 represents a significant evolution from the AX24. The inclusion of the Dual-redundant Dante interface in a product with a heritage of this kind is exciting for Audinate,” commented Lee Ellison, CEO of Audinate,” This development gives the market a one I/O box solution for all but the largest studio tracking projects”

Compatible with all standard sampling rates up to 384 kilohertz, the AX32 allows production of future-proof master-quality Digital eXtreme Definition (DXD) and Direct Stream Digital (DSD) audio data formats as well as 44.1 to 192 kilohertz formats commonly used for audio editing and distribution.

Existing users of NTP DAD audio signal processors include Abbey Road Studios, Bauer Studios, Benny Andersson’s RMV Studio, Classic Sound, CMC Studios, Collegium Records, Danish Radio, DEX Mastering, DPA Microphones, Echopark Studios, Electronic Pencil Canada, Galaxy Studios, Hana Music Montreux, Helsinki Music Centre, Lindberg lyd, Magne Furuholmen, Master Touch, McGill University, Moscow Music Conservatory, NDR Hamburg, NHK, NRK, QVC shopping channel, Real Sound, Royal Danish Opera House, Royal Opera House London, Sidney Opera House, SK Works, Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra, SoundWorks/Jeff Sheridan, Spanish Radio, St Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, Stock Fish Records, Swedish Radio, Telarc International, Timbre Music, Ultimo Productions and the Warsaw National Philharmonic Orchestra.
