Summerland Tour Kicks Off with RCF HDL50

(Edison, NJ) Five years ago, Everclear lead singer Art Alexakis created Summerland, a 1990s nostalgia tour featuring a lineup of alternative rock bands who had achieved Top 10 status in that era. This year’s tour is headlined by Sugar Ray and Everclear, along with Sponge and Lit.

Using the new RCF HDL50-A line array system and Allen & Heath D-Live digital console, the tour kicked off July 8 at Fourth Street Live in Louisville, Kentucky.

The RCF system is comprised of 16 HDL50-A, an active three-way line array cabinet with dual 12” low frequency, four 6” midrange and two 3” high frequency compression drivers; coupled with eight SUB 9007-AS dual 21” active subwoofers. Eight NX12-SMA active 12” monitors covered the stage.

“The system sounded absolutely amazing,” commented 4th Street Live production manager Dave Moskowitz. “If I would ever walk into a venue and saw this rig up, I would be assured of no worries, no issues.”

4th Street Live is an outdoor entertainment complex in downtown Louisville. An A-frame glass roof encloses the two-block long open-air street dining and entertainment district features more than a dozen restaurants and nightlife venues, plus the main concert stage which acts as a centerpiece for the district hosting festivals, local bands and concerts featuring national touring acts.

“The HDL50 system is a perfect fit for 4th Street Live,” says Moskowitz. “With the use of RCF’s RDNet control, we can tailor the system to the size of the event, shape the sound so we do not interfere with the adjacent restaurants, and monitor all functions of the system.”
