Westbury National‘s Systems and Shows Divisions shine with TIFF Bell Lightbox Gala and Film Fest parties

Sept 13, 2010

TORONTO – The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) is keeping Westbury National Show Systems very busy.

For the past year Westbury’s Systems Division has been integrating state-of-the-art audiovisual systems into TIFF’s new headquarters, the Bell Lightbox. Meanwhile, Westbury’s Show Services Division is providing audiovisual production services for more than 40 Film Festival parties, including TIFF”?s Opening Gala and the closing party on September 19.

Westbury was awarded the prestigious Lightbox AV integration contract in the spring of 2009. Working with architects Kuwabara Payne McKenna Blumberg (KPMB) and TIFF’s exceptional technical staff, Westbury was entrusted with engineering, supplying, and integrating the extensive building-wide video capture, storage, distribution, broadcast, display and control systems, as well as integrating state-of-the-art digital cinema, digital signage and audio systems.

Designed to accommodate future generations of ultra-high bandwidth cinema, video and audio media formats, the Lightbox features fibre optic digital video (HD-SDI), audio (AES-EBU) and media (10GB) networks. Located in downtown Toronto’s theatre district, TIFF’s new home in the Bell Lightbox features a three-storey public atrium, a bistro, restaurant, lounge, two galleries, three learning studios, staff offices, an extensive archive and more.

The Bell Lightbox is set to open its doors September 11th with a lavish Gala party, made possible by Westbury‘s Show Services Division. Other Westbury-equipped Festival events include the Fox Searchlight party at the brand new Thompson Toronto Hotel; the annual OneXOne Benefit; Hello! Magazine’s party at the Royal Ontario Museum; the Chanel party taking place at Holt Renfrew’s flagship Bloor Street store; the ET Canada Lounge which runs from September 11-13 at the Yorkville Parkade; and the TIFF Tent, also in Yorkville.

One of the Toronto Film Festival’s highest-profile events, the Festival BBQ at the Canadian Film Centre, will also benefit from Westbury’s audiovisual expertise, including the exclusive event’s custom-design entrance and exit archways.

Westbury National is proud to have worked with TIFF, their sponsors and exhibitors for more than 15 years, providing high quality audio, lighting, staging and video for many of the city’s most lavish events.
