1. Mini’s next-gen vehicles get AV makeover
At the center of each revamped system is a vibrant, round OLED display measuring 9.4 inches across. This screen, which Mini proclaims is the first of its kind in the auto industry, serves as the display hub for all infotainment in the vehicle. The display will run on the new Mini Operating Software 9, which is based on an Android Open Source Project (AOSP) software stack.
2. Verizon is shutting down BlueJeans
BlueJeans, the cloud-based videoconferencing service that was acquired by Verizon in early 2020, is shutting down. Members of the business-focused conferencing service were emailed a statement notifying them of the app’s impending shutdown.
3. Freddie Mercury’s home recording gear goes to auction
Fine art company Sotheby’s has announced it will be auctioning off hundreds of items that belonged to Queen frontman and rock icon Freddie Mercury. The auctions, include a chance to own some of Mercury’s own recording gear.
4. WeWork’s stock plummets, company’s future uncertain
Yahoo Finance reported that WeWork’s second quarter earnings report warned investors that, “substantial doubt exists about the Company’s ability to continue as a going concern.”
5. Sonos acknowledges popping in $900 Arc soundbar
While a resolution to the issue is being researched, Sonos have told users of the $900 soundbar that a current workaround involves disabling HDMI CEC or disabling Dolby Atmos
