TouchSystems 46in. touchscreen
TouchSystems continues to grow its executive-level line of displays with the addition of a multi-touch 46in. solution. The 46in. touchscreen, based on NEC’s X462S, is integrated with an infrared touch technology. The display can be purchased as a dual-touch or multi-touch (six points) solution. The X46 features LED-backlighting, which decreases energy consumption and total cost of ownership, and a full HD LCD display, ensuring crisp color and images. The touchscreen also comes with built-in speakers, a carbon footprint meter, a scheduler, and internal temperature sensors with self-diagnosis tools and fans. Another notable feature is the Open Pluggable Specification (OPS) slot, which simplifies the installation process and makes the maintenance of digital signage content much easier. The display’s aesthetics, durability, ease of use, and lowered energy consumption allow it to be used in a number of verticals including retail and hospitality environments.
Matrox Maevex 5100
At the upcoming DSE 2014, Montréal-based Matrox will present its Maevex 5100 series H.264 encoders/decoders. The Matrox Maevex 5100 series delivers excellent streaming quality at a fraction of the price of traditional encode/decode systems, according to the company. Maevex video-over-IP solutions enable the extension of full-HD-quality 1080p60 video over standard IP networks. Bitrates are user definable between 100Kbps and 25Mbps, allowing for multiple streams on both 100Mb and 1000Mb standard networks. Maevex H.264 encoders and decoders capture, stream, and decode video from a variety of sources, and even allow for software-based decoding on non-Maevex devices. Maevex units come bundled with Matrox PowerStream software, allowing for remote management of Maevex devices and enabling a wide variety of user-defined stream-management features, including unicast and multicast networking.
ViewSonic’s 10in. wall-mounted multimedia all-in-one digital ePosters family provide wireless capability and power over Ethernet (PoE) for one-wire installation. Primeview USA has made three new additions to its commercial-grade UHD 4K LED LCD line of large-format LCD displays with HDBaseT embedded. This line now offers 55in., 65in., and 84in. display solutions (models PRV554KLEDHDBT, PRV654KLEDHDBT, and PRV844KLED) with ultra-high 4K resolution. “While many applications may not have 4K content today, these units come standard with an internal processor that turns FHD input to 2K resolution,” said Chanan Averbuch, director of business development at Primeview USA. “Also, much like our previous 84in. 4K LED LCD releases, the new 65in. and 55in. 4K units provide options for smaller rooms that are looking for a more dynamic solution.”
R.L. Drake DSE 2 PLUS
R.L. Drake’s new DSE 2 PLUS dual multiplexing encoder combines encoding and QAM modulation capabilities within a single, standalone unit. The DSE 2 PLUS can be deployed to simplify HD video distribution for various applications across the worship, education, healthcare, government, and hospitality markets. The DSE 2 PLUS digitally encodes two uncompressed HDMI, high-resolution component video or VGA inputs to MPEG-2 or MPEG-4/H.264, and then uses an internal multiplexing QAM modulator and low-noise upconverter to enable distribution of two HD channels over existing legacy fiber and coaxial networks. The bandwidth savings allow users either to double the HD channels they can deliver, or to cut the bandwidth required in half to deliver multiple channels. As a result, DSE 2 PLUS users can leverage existing networks of digital HD displays to provide informational video, revenue-generating advertising, or promotional content in a vibrant high-resolution format.
Black Box MediaCento IPX
The Black Box MediaCento IPX PoE multicast videowall receiver transmits HDMI video and audio over an Ethernet network to create up to 8x8 videowall arrays using existing standards-based Ethernet technology and TCP/IP protocols. It scales source video for output on a videowall matrix. There is PoE support for remote powering. It features IGMP support and packetizes signals so all your HD source content can be delivered anywhere you want over Ethernet. According to the company, it features visually lossless compression, allowing the unit to transmit broadcast-quality video and audio, and support full 1080p resolution over any distance or any number of screens, as well as all common PC resolutions (XGA, SXGA, UXGA, WSXGA) up to 1920x1200 at 60Hz.
LG Electronics 84WS70MS-B
LG Electronics’ 84in. Ultra HD Signage Display features 3840x2160 resolution. The 84WS70MS-B has a bezel width of 27.9mm at its thinnest point and can be mounted in portrait or landscape mode. A touch-enabled model also is available in the Ultra HD line. It includes LG’s In Plane Switching (IPS) panel technology that helps prevent color saturation and contrast for off-angle viewing (both horizontal and vertical), resulting in a display with great picture quality that can be installed at virtually any angle or height, according to the company. IPS technology also provides a temperature tolerance of up to 230 degrees Fahrenheit (110 degrees Celsius), which helps alleviate a common problem with screens overheating and, as a result, suffering from permanent picture quality damage. A slot at the rear of the display offers the opportunity to attach an external media player (compatible with LG MP700 and MP500 media player).

SVSi new voLANte VWP120 windowing processor is a 1RU rackmount appliance that connects to a voLANte video network and accepts any four video streams as input. Plug one network cable into the VWP120 to access video sources and distribute the combined sources anywhere on the network. Input streams flow into the processor through this network cable and the composite video streams flow out through the same cable back to any voLANte display. Each input can be cropped, scaled, and positioned according to stored presets (such as quad, window-in-window, 3+1, etc.) or in any user-defined configuration. The combined output video stream is then routed to one or more displays at HD 1080p or CG 1600x1200 resolution. The VWP120 functions as a 4x1 windowing processor and can be stacked to give 7x1, 10x1, 13x1, 16x1, or higher capability.
