Epson Debuts K-12 Projectors
Epson unveiled four new projectors engineered specifically for the classroom, with new features that improve use, cost, and effectiveness for teachers and students.

The PowerLite 84, 85, 825, and 826W offers a lamp life of up to 6,000 hours, a built-in closed captioning decoder, USB plug-and-play technology, an internal 10-watt loudspeaker, network connectivity for remote presentations via wired LAN, and optional wireless connectivity. The new models are also the company’s first to offer a dedicated microphone input that allows teachers to amplify their voices using the internal speaker so all students in a classroom can hear.
“We’ve asked teachers and administrators from across the country what they need in future projectors, and have integrated their input into this suite of products,” said Sara Kim, associate product manager at Epson Projection, in a statement. “The result is an affordable and flexible family of classroom-centric projectors that deliver long lamp life and are remarkably easy to use.”
The PowerLite 84 and 85 feature 2,600 lumens each of white and color light output, and XGA resolution. The PowerLite 85 offers 3,000 lumens of white and color light output as well as XGA resolution. The PowerLite 826W features 2,500 lumens of white and color light output and WXGA resolution, making it compatible with widescreen laptops and DVD content.
The PowerLite 85, 825, and 826W offer flexible features for the classroom. With the included EMP Monitor software, these projectors can be used as a broadcast system to show event flyers, updates, and emergency instructions. Using the Quick Wireless Connection USB Key, teachers can insert the USB Key into the projector and then into a PC; the Key automatically reconfigures the computer’s network settings and wirelessly connects to the projector for instantaneous use.
The Epson PowerLite 84 and 85 will be available in May 2009 for $799 and $899 respectively. The PowerLite 825 and 826W will be available in June for $999 each.
