International Audio Summit Comes to California
The International Audio Summit, set to be held in Santa Monica, Calif., November 17-19, will be a place for technical decision-makers in broadcasting, movies, and audio to congregate, according to organizers.
The International Audio Summit, set to be held in Santa Monica, Calif., November 17-19, will be a place for technical decision-makers in broadcasting, movies, and audio to congregate, according to organizers. Put on by the Sennheiser Sound Academy, the conference will cover new technologies in acquiring and sharing information as well as trends in audio and video production. Speakers from industry, science, and trade associations will lecture on topics such as new formats for production and broadcast, audience involvement via innovative audio applications, and new wireless communication systems in broadcast centers. Several workshops will offer in-depth coverage of important issues surrounding new production and broadcasting formats, next-generation technologies, and audio for sports productions.
“The aim of the Audio Summit is to provide professional users with an independent international platform where they can share information about key current and future issues facing the industry,” said Susanne Seidel, president of global marketing for Sennheiser, in a statement. “We also feel that this conference plays an important role in giving participants the opportunity to make valuable contacts and to create useful links between research and industry.”
Scheduled speakers include two leaders from the German broadcast industry: Herbert Tillmann, technical director of Bayerischer Rundfunk and chairman of the production and technology commission for ARD and ZDF; and Prof. Dr. Martin Koch, Terahertz Systems Engineering, Technical University of Braunschweig. From the United States, Tom Sahara, senior director of remote operations and IT for Turner Sports, will speak, as will Tomlinson Holman, School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern
California. From Geneva, Switzerland, Philip Laven, who is chairman of the International Audio Summit and of DVB Project, will also speak.
The Audio Summit is supported by a panel of advisors, which includes Jim Anderson, president of the Audio Engineering Society (AES) and professor of recorded music at New York University; Roger Furness, executive director of AES; and Philip Laven.
