Tandberg announced the Codec C60 video collaboration engine today, along with the telepresence-quality Tandberg Profile videoconferencing system.

Based on the same technology as Tandberg’s Codec C90 telepresence engine, the C60 is designed to bring 1080p high definition to a broader range of videoconferencing applications, according to the company. Built for a streamlined, high-quality integration experience, with standards-compliant, professional-grade connectors and full APIs, the C60 offers the ability to connect up to four microphones and four HD sources, including rich multimedia. Additionally, it is reportedly interoperable with all standards-compliant videoconferencing, telepresence, and desktop collaboration tools.

“The Codec C60 is the next generation video engine for widespread 1080p video collaboration,” said Hakon Dahle, chief technologist of Tandberg, in statement. “[And] it’s future-proof. Users can rest assured that they will always have access to the latest video features through the C60’s simple software upgrades.”

The C60 can be found in the new Tandberg Profile, which aims to offer telepresence-quality videoconferencing experience to everyone in an enterprise.

“With reduced budgets and a heightened need for communication, many executives are turning to telepresence to replace travel,” said Fredrik Halvorsen, CEO of Tandberg. “We are making a telepresence-quality 1080p HD experience available to teams throughout an organization.”

According to the company, the Tandberg Profile has an intelligent, user-friendly interface and is flexible for any team room environment. It has three widescreen LCD display options (single 42-inch, single 52-inch, or dual 52-inch) paired with full duplex audio plus a PrecisionHD 1080p camera to allow for better eye contact and more natural communication.

The Profile’s design incorporates recyclable aluminum materials, keeping in line with Tandberg’s environmental sustainability goals. It Like the Codec C60, the Profile is interoperable with any standards-compliant videoconferencing or telepresence system.

Both releases are currently available. The Codec C60 starts at $21,900 and the Tandberg Profile starts at $38,900.
