A. Peavey MediaMatrix NION Series processing nodes with NWare software were used to distribute event announcements and background music to a combined audience of 28,000 spectators. Media-Matrix CAB 4n CobraNet break-out boxes converted uncompressed digital CobraNet audio to analog audio and distributed it throughout, while XControl 4×4 remote panels afforded control of paging and overall system management.

B. Approximately 150 Christie Digital Roadster S+20K and Christie CP2000-ZX projectors, with brightness levels up to 20,000 ANSI lumens, came together in an event a local Olympic committee member called “the most extensive and complicated in the history of the Games.” When the curtain fell on the 2008 Olympics, the projecto projectors reportedly were scheduled for deployment in th theaters across China, as the country moves from film to digital cinema.

C. Creative Technology Group, an AV servicesCreativ company, built the Spiral Theater, comprising almost 800 Barco i6XP LED panels spiralling upwards from ground level with content handled via nine channels of Grass Valley Turbo playback. Separately, it created an immersive experience in the Red Passion Theater with an 8-by-40-foot Stewart Filmscreen screen, four Panasonic 7700 projectors, four Dataton Watchout systems, and 7:1 surround sound.

D. The acoustically challenging situation called for JBL Professional Precision Directivity Series and Application Engineered Series loudspeakers; Crown CTs600, CTs1200, CTs2000, and CTs3000 amplifiers; Sound-craft consoles; and BSS DSP utilizing HiQnet London Architect platform for control. Speaker breakdown: 52 JBL PD5212/64 12-inch 2-way full-range loudspeakers, eight PD5122 dual 12-inch low-frequency loudspeakers, 12 AC2212/95, and 12 each 2380A 90- x 40-degree horns matched with 2446J 2-inch exit (4-inch voice coil) compression drivers.

E. Clear-Com’s Eclipse Digital Matrix acted as the heart of their communications systems. The typical setup included Clear-Com’s 32-port Eclipse digital matrix system and I-Series control panels with built in microphone headset connections and four display key modules along with a keypad. In some situations, FreeSpeak10 digital wireless beltpacks were also integrated, using a 1.9 GHz cellular architecture and DECT technology to allow roaming between remote antennas.
