IGI Takes 4K Expertise Out West

IGI, winner of a 2009 PRO AV Spotlight Award for Best Corporate Installation, announced the opening of a new office in Burbank, Calif.

IGI, winner of a 2009 PRO AV Spotlight Award for Best Corporate Installation, announced the opening of a new office in Burbank, Calif. This represents the third office for IGI and serves as a major hub to support the company’s growing presence on the west coast, company officials said. The Burbank office will provide a base from which the company will cultivate its feature film and auto design studio business.

“We opened the L.A. office to help IGI expand its presence with the quality products and services our clients have come to expect,” said IGI founder and president Pat Hernandez, in a statement. “We believe the LA office will help with sales, service, and efficiencies especially in the burgeoning post production industry.”

Jim Sembiazza and Michael Bard have been hired to help manage the developing needs in the Los Angeles area. Sembiazza has a decade of industry experience servicing companies such as Avid, and Bard was vice president of sales for Panoram Technologies and Christie Digital.

Over the past year, IGI said it has been aggressively pursuing and servicing new business opportunities in the feature film industry, as it transitions to an all-digital, 4K production workflow. IGI manages 4K production and post production services including color grading, finish grading, and screening. One of the office’s early projects included delivering a Sony SRX-T420 4K projector with 21,000 lumens to RED Digital Cinema for use in their new RED studio operations. Additionally, IGI has supported numerous trade shows such as the National Association for Broadcasters (NAB), Cine Gear, RED Community Day, REDucation, HD Expo, and others.

“IGI has a proven track record to deliver effective solutions in the auto, military and control room markets,” said Hernandez. “Our new office allows IGI to emphasize 2K and 4K post production as it is an up-and-coming technology with opportunities in the L.A. area.”

Outside of the post production market, the office will pursue partnerships in areas where IGI already has a presence, namely auto design, engineering and design, military collaboration and control, and oil and gas. IGI already has several automotive and military installations in the West Coast serviced by the L.A. office.

IGI is based in Commerce, Mich., northwest of Detroit. The company also has an office in Carmel, Ind.
