Lectrosonics has unveiled its latest earset microphone, the HM172. Featuring a bendable silicone frame that mounts to the user’s ear, the HM172 provides high vocal quality in a package designed to blend in, making it an exceptional choice for use in houses of worship, stage productions, live events, and corporate rentals, according to the company.

The HM172 offers a 4.15-inch boom length for providing maximum gain before feedback while keeping the microphone’s omnidirectional condenser element away from the wearer’s breath stream, minimizing wind noise, company officials say. The earset mic is wired standard with a TA5F connector for use with any Lectrosonics UHF belt-pack transmitters, including the UM400a, LMa, and SM series. The HM172 has a moderate sensitivity level for use with speech or singing, and includes a 53-inch cable so the belt-pack transmitter can be positioned almost anywhere on the body.

Lectrosonics’ new mic can be used with the company’s wireless systems, but offers its own frequency response of 50 kHz to 20 kHz +/- 1 dB, while its sensitivity is 7 mV/Pa with a dynamic range of 9 dB and maximum SPL of 125 dB. Available in beige, the HM172 includes a high-frequency peak cap, cable clip, and windscreen.

The HM172 Earset Microphone is scheduled to be available in October with an MSRP of $395.
