Optoma‘s new Neo-i demonstrates the evolution of pico projectors. The $449 Neo-i is an iPod dock that also has a 50-lumen projector. It can project an image up to 10 feet diagonal in native WVGA (854×480) resolution and 16:9 format, with a contrast ratio of 2,000:1. It has a 16W stereo system with bass-reflex design that increases the displacement of air, and results in a fuller sound and greater frequency range, Optoma says. It uses Class D amplifiers for efficiency so it can run off an optional battery pack. HDMI 1.3 and VGA ports allow connection to laptops, Blu-ray players, Apple TV, and more. The Neo-i measures 12.8 by 8.9 by 3.1 inches and weighs less than 2.5 pounds. 510-897-8600. www.optomausa.com.
