Shure is rolling out three new professional headphone models. The SRH840, SRH440, and SRH240 are the company’s first over-the-ear headphones designed specifically for studio applications.

With the proliferation of portable listening devices, user-generated content, and home recording studios increasing, Shure determined that demand for affordable, professional-quality recording was on the rise. The SRH840, SRH440, and SRH240 each have a different sound signature and offer high-quality sound for a variety of uses, from active listening to critical monitoring, according to the company.

“Recording engineers need three critical things: flat, natural audio reproduction, comfort during extended wear, and gear that can stand up to the rigors of everyday use. We combined Shure’s legacy of working with engineers and recording with the experience we gained with our consumer line of Sound Isolating Earphones,” said Scott Sullivan, Shure’s senior director of global product management, in a statement. “Our new professional headphones?engage professional and amateur recordists.”

The SRH840 Professional Monitoring Headphones are designed for studio recording and critical listening. According to the company, this model features reference-quality frequency response, rich bass, clear mid-range, and extended highs.

Optimized for professional audio equipment, such as DJ mixers, mixing consoles, and headphone amplifiers, the SRH440 Professional Studio Headphones are tuned to deliver accurate audio reproduction.

The SRH240 Professional Quality Headphones are calibrated for connection to consumer listening devices and professional equipment, such as mixing consoles, and offer full bass with detailed highs. All three models have a closed-back, circumaural design to help maximize comfort during extended wear, according to Shure.

Scheduled to be available this summer, the SRH840 retails for $200 ($250 MSRP), the SRH440 for $100 ($125 MSRP), and the SRH240 for $60 ($75 MSRP).
