ExceLight Communications, subsidiary of Sumitomo Electric Industries, will be demonstrating a new 10Gbps XFP transceiver in its booth (#2340) at this week’s OFC/NFOEC Conference in Anaheim, Calif. The SXP3101UL XFP can reliably transmit signals at distances of 120km or more without the need for electronic dispersion compensation, say company representatives.

The new transceiver simplifies system design, lowers complexity, and reduces the cost of SONET OC-192/SDH STM-64 line cards, 10Gigabit Ethernet switches and routers, and other data applications requiring signal transmission over longer distances, ExceLight says.

Visitors to the ExceLight booth will see the XFP transceiver operating over a 152km link.
