BEAME Expands Inventory with Clay Paky Scenius Profiles and ChainMaster Motor Hoists

BEAME, the Lititz, Pennsylvania-based lighting and rigging company formerly known as Atomic Lighting, has invested in 50 Clay Paky Scenius Profile fixtures and 48 quarter-ton ChainMaster motor hoists. A.C.T Lighting, Inc. is the exclusive distributor of both brands in North America.

BEAME is one of the first companies in the US to acquire Scenius Profiles.  “The folks at BEAME are super-innovative, so we were pleased when they became early adopters of this new fixture,” says Brian Dowd, Vice President Sales at A.C.T Lighting.  “We’ve enjoyed a long relationship with BEAME and are delighted by their support for Scenius Profile as well as ChainMaster hoists.”

According to BEAME’s Vice President of Sales Brad Hafer, “We were looking for the latest high-output, shuttered fixture that met our criteria for special events programming and live concerts for television,” and Scenius Profile filled the bill.

Scenius Profile fashions uniform light beams without limits and frames scenic elements precisely with fixed or animated light.  The optical reflector has been designed especially to ensure uniform projection across the whole beam opening and avoid the typical hotspot effect of many spotlights.  The framing system operates on four focal planes; its exclusive “curtain effect” allows gradual total closure of the shape using any one of four independent, overlapping blades.  The framing system also offers rotation on 90º.

The fixture’s advanced optical unit and new 1400W OSRAM discharge lamp provide very high light output and an amazing CRI of 96.  Scenius Profile boasts a CMY color system, linear CTO, seven fixed colors, 14 gobos (six rotating and eight fixed), a rotating prism, two variable frost filters and a very precise 0-100% dimmer.  The optical reflector of Scenius Profile can be replaced with that of Scenius Spot, to obtain a higher luminous peak at the center of the beam.

Eighteen of the just-arrived Scenius Profiles are set to debut on Univision’s “Premios Juventud 2016,” the network’s annual youth awards telecast.  Lighting Designer Carlos Colina is expected to deploy them as band key lights.

“A lot of the lighting designers we work with have not seen Scenius Profiles yet so we’re eager to get these fixtures in front of them,” notes Brett Puwalski, BEAME’s Vice President of Operations.

BEAME also acquired quarter-ton ChainMaster motor hoists to fill a gap in the company’s rigging inventory.  “We do a large rigging business,” reports Hafer, a long-time ChainMaster supporter.  “The quarter-ton hoist is a very useful size for us to have on hand.”

Headquartered in Germany, ChainMaster manufactures lifting equipment for the events and entertainment industry.  Its chain hoists and chain hoist controllers are used worldwide by artists such as U2 and Paul McCartney.

BEAME’s new hoists have already been out on the NBA Draft at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.  “They were quick to deploy and lightweight to use on the draft’s drapes and scenic elements,” says Hafer.
