AVoIP: KVM at Super Bowl LV

On February 7, large mobile production trucks were on site in Tampa, FL to support live coverage for Super Bowl LV. As everyone prepared for the Big Game, a fleet of mobile production units had already been staged at the stadium to provide global coverage of the event. IHSE was proud to be part of this prestigious event as a solutions provider of KVM switching systems installed in nine trucks providing live coverage of local associated pre-game events, live same-day coverage and the world feed for international coverage.

Instant replay provided by such companies as EVS, is a staple of any sports broadcast event and IHSE KVM gear is instrumental in allowing EVS operators to manage content flow more smoothly.

IHSE’s Draco tera KVM switching solutions provided the horsepower to quickly respond to replay action during the game. In one truck application, 25 EVS XT3 servers and 24 graphic devices are connected to a Draco tera compact allowing shared operations between 3 trucks using an IHSE matrix grid to tie all the trucks together as one cascaded KVM system. In this way, an EVS operator can sit down at nearly any keyboard-and-monitor workspace within the truck and immediately connect to both the EVS network and to any graphics engines.

In another truck application supporting the hosting broadcast company, a hybrid Draco tera enterprise matrix is connected via both copper and fiber cabling connecting the local A/B/C truck system across CWDM. Live feeds are transmitted to the host broadcast center in New York City where show personnel will be located.

“IHSE has been a preferred KVM solution provider for major mobile truck companies supporting live production since 2009,” says Dan Holland, marketing manager for IHSE USA. “Being a part of this history-making event is a great honor for IHSE and we’re confident that our products will continue to perform beyond expectations for our mobile truck customers today and into the future.”
