Furman(R) F1500 UPS E Uninterruptible Power Supply
On display at ISE will be the first BlueBOLT(R)-enabled 220-240V Furman(R) product: the F1500 UPS E uninterruptible power supply. Specifically designed for A/V installations within EMEA countries, the battery backup and power conditioning device provides 1500VA of true sine wave battery backup to prevent data loss and allow the orderly shutdown of connected equipment in the event of a power outage.
Featuring Furman’s advanced non-sacrificial SMP surge/spike protection circuit, Extreme Voltage Shutdown (EVS) and Linear Filtering Technology (LiFT), the F1500 UPS E provides professional-level protection, filtration and backup, combined with features engineered specifically for the needs of A/V systems. Ideal for premium A/V systems, installed sound systems, DAW workstations or any electronic device at risk of data corruption or equipment damage in the event of power loss, the F1500 UPS E can be easily expanded via the addition of an optional external battery pack (BATT1500-EXT).
Fully programmable, the unit features built-in RS-232, USB and an intuitive LCD front-panel interface, which displays valuable system and diagnostic information — such as battery time remaining — based on current load and voltage input/output. Critical load management capabilities allow users to prioritize allocations of battery power to connected equipment while the unit’s programmable IR blaster provides safe shutdown of remotely based equipment such as video projectors equipped with bulbs, which can become compromised during power failures.
Using an optional IP card, the F1500 UPS E can be operated via BlueBOLT cloud-based power, energy and network management, enabling access from any Web-enabled device. This allows users to reboot the unit remotely to address a myriad of common system issues. Other advantages include the ability to receive email alerts when power anomalies occur; scheduling commands for power-up, power-down or power-cycling; monitoring of incoming voltage in near-real time or over history; and an auto-reboot functionality to resolve networking equipment lock-ups automatically.
BlueBOLT also offers a variety of features designed to closely monitor energy use and eliminate standby power. Users can program individual components for automatic power on/off at certain times of the day to reduce energy waste, while power consumption statistics — including historical energy consumption in kWh — help them better understand energy usage, patterns and costs. In addition, they can set monthly usage budgets and alerts, and schedule conservation commands to turn off electronics in order to completely eliminate wasted energy via “vampire power” or standby modes.
For integrators, remotely managing devices reduces service calls relating to malfunctioning equipment including satellite boxes, DVRs and other A/V components that tend to lock up. Using the F1500-UPS E, integrators gain time and cost efficiencies and lose the inconvenience of having to send a truck or reach behind equipment manually to reset faulty appliances. By setting up email alerts, integrators can also monitor issues and check in on set-ups before clients even realize that a problem has occurred.
The F1500 UPS E will be available Q1 2014.
