As part of their ongoing corporate responsibility program, DVDO will auction off an iScan VP30, high-definition video processor to benefit the nationally recognized Childhelp organization, located in Scottsdale, Ariz., via the website www.dvdo.com/charityauction.

April is National Child Abuse Awareness Month, and in support of that, DVDO has selected a well-regarded beneficiary of the auction’s proceeds. Founded in 1959, Childhelp is one of the largest and oldest national, non-profit organizations dedicated to the treatment, prevention, and research of child abuse and neglect. The organization provides a broad spectrum of programs that directly serve abused and neglected children and their families. Professionals from around the world study the organization’s hotline, residential treatment centers, and advocacy centers for best practices related to child abuse investigation and treatment methods. Visit the organization’s website at www.childhelpusa.com for more information. Contributions are 100 perecent tax deductible.

The auction package for April includes a brand new DVDO iScan VP30 in the box with full warranty and an upgrade package that enhances both the aesthetic and performance value. When integrated into a home entertainment set-up, the VP30 offers state-of-the-art video processing, allowing users to watch all video sources in the native high definition, which is best for their display. The upgrade package includes a user-installable Precision Deinterlacing card as well as DVDO’s Precision SDI Module that allows for a direct digital connection with compatible DVD players. It also features the new VP30 silver faceplate. The total retail value of the package is $2,996.

“We are proud to offer this brand new DVDO iScan VP30 with the upgraded package, as our April charity auction item in support of Childhelp. With April being Child Abuse Awareness month, Childhelp was a natural choice because of the fine work they do on a national scale in support of this very worthwhile cause,” says Gary Chappell, worldwide director of sales and marketing.

DVDO and its parent company Anchor Bay Technologies (ABT) also extend their charitable endeavors into the local community where several employees volunteer with the Second Harvest Food Bank in San Jose, Calif. Volunteers contribute by sorting and distributing food for member agencies, helping with the upkeep of the food bank, and performing data entry to assist with inventory.

Like many manufacturers in the consumer electronics industry, ABT also supports the Elf Foundation in Hollywood. By auctioning off a DVDO iScan VP30 with the serial number 000001 and signed by all members of the ABT team, money was raised to support the Rooms of Magic program. According to its website, “The Elf Foundation utilizes the talents and products of the CE industry by targeting and directing them for sick kids who can always use a little bit of movie magic.” The Elf Foundation uses contributions to build Rooms of Magic in various medical facilities for children who have terminal illnesses or require long-term recovery stays.
