The National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association (NBFAA) has announced that Executive Director Merlin Guilbeau has been appointed to the International Code Council’s Industry Advisory Committee. NBFAA’s vice president and president-elect George Gunning has been appointed as the NBFAA alternate.

“This appointment demonstrates NBFAA’s commitment to the development of standardized codes that benefit consumers, public safety, and our industry. It is important that we work with those organizations that develop building code standards in order to understand trends and to voice opinions,” says Guilbeau.

Gunning adds, “We are proud to have been selected to serve on the ICC’s Industry Advisory Committee. The ICC is the preeminent building code developer in the United States, so it is clearly an essential organization to our membership.”

NBFAA joins a distinguished list of associations and companies that work with the IAC, including the American Petroleum Institute, the American Public Health Association, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Automatic Fire Alarm Association, Inc., the Federal Emergency Management Association, National Association of Homebuilders, the National Convergence of States on Building Codes and Standards, National Fire Sprinkler Association, National Fire Protection Association, U.S. Department of Agriculture, U.S. General Services Administration, U.S. Department of Energy and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
