- Panasonic’s PT-RQ45 makes debut at the Lille Video Mapping Festival
The 2026 Lille Video Mapping Festival saw the debut of Panasonic’s PT-RQ45 projector, turning the Opéra de Lille into the festival’s immersive projection mapping centerpiece. Operating since 2018, the two-day festival transforms 11 sites over a mile-long walking route into a trail of digital art. The PT-RQ45 was deployed to cover the facade of the Place du Théâtre, a canvas spanning nearly 100 ft x 137 ft. Three of the three-chip DLP projectors were installed at a projection distance of about 137 feet, in a portrait orientation, creating a 3840 x 2160 resolution projection.

“The next generation of what film cinema tools will be.” That’s what Cinelux is calling its Sixteen prototype camera, a hybrid Super 16 camera that simultaneously shoots digital video and 16mm film. The idea is that users can shoot on film while offering the convenience of digital video, allowing immediate access to playback and dailies to directors, producers, and editors. “This makes the digital monitoring output a tool for shooting film as creatively and as accurately as imaginable. It acts as an insurance for producers, a proxy for editors, and an invaluable tool for all departments on set” says Cinelux.
- New experimental Leatherman multitool sells out instantly
Leatherman has introduced a brand-new multitool under its experimental Garage line that sold out almost immediately after becoming available. The Leatherman Adapter sells for $75, and interested parties can sign up to become notified when it returns to the storefront. The Adapter is made from 3D-printed titanium, and features a three-way ratcheting system as its most obvious function. It can be used while folded, unfolded at a 90-degree angle for greater leverage, or when completely unfolded to provide greater reach.

Following its launch in South Korea earlier this year, LG has announced that the StanbyME 2 Max wheeled TV will be available in the U.S. The StanbyME 2 Max features a larger display than previous StanbyME models, and this time sports a 4K resolution. Like the rest of the StanbyME line, the StanbyME 2 Max’s display is a touchscreen meant for entertainment, this time scaled up to 32 inches. It retains the same cable-free design to compliment its portability, instead functioning completely on battery power. The StanbyME 2 Max supports Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos with AI Sound Pro through side-firing speakers.
- Projector failures plague The Odyssey’s IMAX 70mm release
Denver and Colorado Springs house two of the world’s 42 IMAX 70mm projectors, the equipment needed to see “The Odyssey” the way its director intended. That number has already started to drop, as a technical issue at Regal UA Colorado Center caused the theater to cancel all IMAX 70mm showings. Similarly, moviegoers attending one of Texas’ two IMAX 70mm theaters were forced to leave without completing the film. During a showing at San Antonio’s Rivercenter Mall, guests said that the film stopped three separate times before the showing was canceled altogether. Guests were given refunds and vouchers while the projector is repaired, but there’s no estimate on how long that could take.
