WATCH: Rotating house spins 360 degrees

Who needs video when you have windows?

Sotheby’s has just listed a unique house that rotates 360 degrees for constantly changing views of jungle, beachfront, and the neighbors’ cars. The Lighthouse at 179 Maraetai Drive sits next to Maraetai Beach on the Pohutukawa Coast in Auckland, New Zealand. It’s open Saturday if you’re in the area.

The current owner Don Dunick reportedly designed the house in the 1990s, taking several years to overcome issues including how to wire and plumb a rotating house and get signoff on the solutions. So in other words–a great house for a keen engineer to take charge of for its next chapter.

The three-bedroom/1 bath home is raised on a platform and all that’s needed to change the view is a flick of a switch. A full rotation reportedly takes 33 minutes though, apparently, that can be halved with the “high speed” setting.

According to an interview Dunick shared with the New Zealand Herald, weather sensors can automatically rotate the house to make the most of the sun’s warmth or a cool breeze to keep a constant indoor temperature.

The interior of the two-story home is obviously heavy on glass, low on wall space. So where would you put your Samsung The Frame and would you even need it?

The price is available upon request however the Guardian estimates it’s value at $600,000 (which will buy you a single-wide mobile home where I live, if you’re lucky).
