CMS Innovative Consultants (www.cmsav.com) will donate audiovisual design and consulting services to a new community center for the Harlem Children’s Zone (www.hcz.org) at 125th Street in Manhattan. CMS will be participating in conjunction with Lehman Brothers, which is supporting the organization as part of its global strategy for philanthropy aimed at improving the opportunities in life for children.

The Harlem Children’s Zone is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to provide education and mentoring in a safe and nurturing environment in an area of New York where approximately 40 percent of children live below the poverty line. HCZ is constructing a new 92,000-square-foot building to offer comprehensive social, educational, and recreational services to the residents of the area. The building will include the Promise Academy Charter School, providing high-quality education for as many as 600 middle- and high school children, featuring a modern library with research facilities, a state-of-the-art technology center, a science laboratory, a gymnasium/all-purpose room, a multipurpose cafeteria, and conference rooms.

Completion is scheduled for fall 2004.

“We are pleased to be able to contribute our audiovisual expertise to this admirable organization. The community center will be a noteworthy addition to New York City,” says Christopher Maione, CMS principal in charge of the AV project team. “In addition, we are delighted to be working on this project alongside our esteemed client, Lehman Brothers.”
