Digidesign Appoints COO

Digidesign, the industry leader in digital audio and live sound, announced the appointment of Gerard “Tex” Schenkkan to the position of Chief Operating Officer. The appointment adds depth to the already successful senior management team of Digidesign, enabling the company to operate more efficiently and deliver even greater value to its core customers and developers.
Reporting directly to Avid vice president and Digidesign general manager Dave Lebolt, Schenkkan will focus on day-to-day management of sales, marketing, R&D, operations, human resources and finance. Lebolt will focus on the strategic direction of the fast-growing audio business, including strategic product planning, acquisitions and key customer development.
Schenkkan brings over 20 years of experience in general management, international marketing, new product development, strategic alliances and business development in the computer systems industry. Prior to joining Digidesign, Mr. Schenkkan held positions as SVP of the Consumer Electronics Business of Maxtor Corporation; VP and General Manager of Consumer Electronics at Quantum Corporation; and various roles in marketing and business development at Hewlett-Packard. Schenkkan holds an MBA from the Stanford Business School and a BA from Yale University.
