Fire Destroys Part of Sennheiser’s Ireland Plant

A Sennheiser (www.sennheiserusa.com) headphone production facility in Tullamore, Ireland, was badly damaged by fire in the early hours of May 3, 2004. No one was injured in the fire. In spite of the damage to the factory, Peter Callan, general manager of Sennheiser Ireland, says he is confident that operations will resume in a relatively short period of time. Adjacent facilities have already been secured, and the rebuilding process has begun. The cause of the fire is as yet unknown.
In a statement, Rolf Meyer, president of marketing and sales for Sennheiser electronic GmbH and Company KG and speaker of the executive committee, has reaffirmed his commitment to Ireland as a company location. “We immediately began the process of rebuilding the Tullamore factory,” says Meyer. “Volker Bartels, president manufacturing, is currently at the site to coordinate all activities together with Peter Callan and to get the factory back into production as quickly as possible. The entire Sennheiser Ireland team is doing everything it can to support them.”
In addition to the Tullamore production facility, Sennheiser has three other factories: two in Germany and one in the United States.
