Neutrik, designer and manufacturer of the “XX” series XLR cable connector, has recently agreed to sponsor the How-To Surround Sound workshops organized by Fits and Starts Productions, a company that provides seminars, workshops, and consulting services to industry professionals with a full touring studio.

Thirty workshops will take place at facilities including universities, conventions, and television stations across the nation. The seminars will demonstrate how to create, mix, edit, encode, and broadcast surround sound programming to qualified sound professionals. Neutrik connectors will serve as connection points throughout the entire studio and will be used during demonstrations in all of the workshops.

“Working in the industry for 15 years, I have learned that Neutrik has an established reputation among audio professionals and sound engineers, making them a perfect fit for these seminars,” states Hector La Torre, managing partner and owner of Fits and Starts Productions. “Their high-quality connectors are extremely durable and are ideal for our six-month tour. We are happy Neutrik agreed to be a sponsor of our workshops.”

The Neutrik products supplied to Fits and Starts Productions included 100 XLR three-pin male and female cable connectors, 10 XLR three-pin male chassis connectors, 40 1/4in. phone plug stereo and mono cable connectors, and 10 NL4 Speakon chassis connectors. In addition, Neutrik supplied an OHM/75 digital impedance transformer to facilitate the broadcast connections. The equipment is integrated into the traveling surround system in which attendees are able to see and hear the gear’s performance.

“Neutrik is proud to be a part of the How-To Surround Sound workshops,” states Jim Cowan, president of Neutrik USA. “It’s a great opportunity to help professionals and consumers within the audio industry learn the skills needed to excel as well as expand their knowledge and awareness of studio equipment. Fits and Starts is a solid company that features highly specialized workshops, and we know that our connectors will be in good hands.”

Fits and Starts Productions is currently the leading provider of audio workshops in North America, conducting nearly 60 workshops each year for professional audio and church sound volunteers. The nationwide tour takes place at top-notch universities and conventions, including New York University, William Paterson University, the 2005 Society of Broadcast Engineers Chapter 22 Broadcast & Technology Expo, and WEBE/SMPTE Conference.
