The next generation of Apple CarPlay was announced at Apple’s 2022 Worldwide Develop Conference, but interesting new details about the auto AV interface have been reported by Car and Driver.

Previews of the next-gen CarPlay in Porsche and Aston Martin luxury vehicles have been made available, with Apple’s partnership with the manufacturers resulting in a streamlined interface with customization options that allow CarPlay to blend in more seamlessly with each brand’s aesthetic and design philosophy.

Most strikingly, however, is the new CarPlay’s ability to connect with all in-vehicle displays, not just the infotainment screen. For instance, an image of CarPlay in a new Astron Martin shows the driver’s music streaming  widget on the instrument panel, while a photo of the interior of a Porsche depicts CarPlay’s information stretching the length of the dash, including weather conditions and a personal schedule.

The next generation of Apple CarPlay is expected to release sometime in 2024 with the debut of new luxury car models.
